Veronica Bowers - no justice yet - and none expected
February 6th, 2010Anyone still under the delusion that the Democratic administration would support sorely needed drug policy reform need only check the most recent budget. And where’s the justice for Veronica? () now, I don’t want to get off on a rant here but how long can the CIA simply ignore Congress, the American public, world opinion… the answer is: as long as we let them.
The Drug War, as well as all the other wars for profit, cannot simply be ended by the new administration.
It wasn’t started by the current administration, it isn’t run by them, and they are only getting a tiny kickback from this industry. Income from street drug sales represents a source of cash that is more important today than ever for Wall Street and the corrupt police, prison guards, prosecutors, border guards, judges and politicians.
Big Pharma, the Prison Industrial Complex, to name only two of the huge economic interests supporting status quo, have sufficient lobbying power and/or represent sufficient vested interest to keep the drug war going.
And that is why Veronica, her baby, and everyone who suffered personal devastation at the hands of the CIA having fun playing shoot ‘em up with the Drug War are pretty likely to keep waiting a while for anything approaching the honest truth.
