Stop trying to save the world

I was taught as a child not to ever discuss or question religious beliefs. Allowing societies to continue to commit or ignore atrocities according to the will of their gods… maintaining respect of religious beliefs… this is the path to good. True?

Not true.

Unless the secular ideal successfuly the collective mind of humanity and replacing the multitude of imaginary deities, mankind will never again be in a situation where anything we could describe as “good” will appear on the horizon. why?:
Our ability to travel the globe with relative simplicity, our ability to create and transport dangerous substances and devices, our ability to transmit information instantaneously and with complete secrecy; these are three things that prevent a religious world from continuing to be stable.
If, for example one inserts a factor such as a willingness to embrace death on one side of the equation, but leaves a significant fear of death on the other side, the two societies become unstable if allowed to interact freely. The previously free and death fearing society becomes a society with body scanners, metal detectors, biometrics and DNA databases, with equally fearful citizens; however, now they are also hateful towards other societies.

The human condition of struggling for survival and the human affliction of greed, coupled to “the intelligence of the few versus the stupidity of the many”, is a necessary condition for the perpetuation of religious systems; they do depend on extremely stupid sheep to contribute to the mass momentum just as much as they depend on power figures ready to utilize the situation. Whether they rely on arguments from Scripture, from altruistic kindness, or from authoritarian prophet figures, it makes no difference. whatever intelligence they have in their argumentation, they save for the privacy of scheming to gain power over others and material wealth. arguments to the gray masses usually do not encourage intelligent thought.

so, once again, what the hell is Jesus Christ doing in our national freedom celebration??
